RIPS

Provably fair packs, explained

Updated 2026-10-24

In short

Before you buy, RIPS publishes a SHA-256 hash of a secret server seed. Your pack is drawn from HMAC-SHA256(server seed, client seed and nonce). When the seed rotates, RIPS reveals it so you can recompute every past pull.

The three inputs

Server seed: secret, but its hash is shown to you before any pack opens. Client seed: yours, editable any time. Nonce: counts up by one with each pack.

How a draw is made

The HMAC output is split into numbers that pick each card's tier and market from the pack's pool. The same inputs always give the same pack.

How to verify

Rotate your seed in the app. RIPS reveals the old server seed; check its hash matches what you saw, then re-run the draw on the Fairness page or with any HMAC-SHA256 tool.

FAQ

Can RIPS change the seed after I buy?

No. The hash is shown first, and any change would produce a different hash you'd see.

Does provably fair mean I'll win?

No. It proves the draw followed the published odds. Packs still carry a house edge.
