What would move this market

  • Nominations, release dates, chart and box-office numbers, and announcements by the people involved.
  • Spider-Man: Brand New Day leads Avengers: Doomsday by 85 points. Flipping the order would take sustained news, not one headline.
  • What counts in the end: the source the rules name (www.boxofficemojo.com/year/2026/?grossesOption=calendarGrosses). Reports elsewhere move the price; only that source settles it.

In the news

How it resolves

The rules, word for word as Polymarket publishes them:

This market will resolve according to the title of the film with the highest 2026 gross according to the "Gross" column on https://www.boxofficemojo.com/year/2026/?grossesOption=calendarGrosses once data for December 31 is made available. Note: This market is about the movie's domestic calendar gross in 2026 - dates outside of 2026 will not count toward this movie's gross. In the event of an exact tie the film that comes first alphabetically will be considered the winner. If there is no final data available by January 7, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, another credible resolution source will be chosen.
Closes:
8 Jan 2027, 04:59 UTC
How results are settled:
Polymarket markets are typically settled through UMA's optimistic oracle: a result is proposed after the event, can be disputed during a challenge window, and is final once undisputed or decided.

How to read these odds

A share of each outcome costs its chance in cents and pays $1 if it happens, so 93% means about 93¢ a share and roughly 1.08x back if right. The prices of all outcomes add up to about 100%. Guides: reading Polymarket odds, odds to probability, glossary.
